Lou Gehrig, known as the "Iron Horse" was a First Baseman for the New York Yankees for 17 seasons until his career was cut short. He held the record of most consecutive games played at 2,130 for 56 years until it was broken by Cal Ripken Jr. in 1995. He hold the record today for the most career grand slams at 23. In 17 seasons with the Yankees he had 1,995 RBIs, a career batting average of .340, and a slugging percentage of .632. Currently three of the top six RBI seasons belong to Lou Gehrig. Gehrig was selected to each of the first seven All-Star games, won the AL MVP award in 1927 and 1936 and was a Triple Crown winner in 1934.
